John Day presents RINA at ITU-T FG NET-2030 First Workshop
ITU-T has created a new focus group under Study Group 13, called Focus Group Technologies for Network 2030 (FG NET 2030). The Focus Group, intends to study the capabilities of networks for the year 2030 and beyond, when it is expected to support novel forward-looking scenarios, such as holographic type communications, extremely fast response in critical situations and high-precision communication demands of emerging market verticals. The study aims to answer specific questions on what kinds of network architecture and the enabling mechanisms are suitable for such novel scenarios.
The group organized a First Workshop in New York, in order to provide a forum for both industry and academia to exchange their ideas about networks in the year 2030 and thereafter. Participants were able to share their viewpoints, findings, latest research, and their project descriptions and goals. John Day presented RINA as a future-proof approach for networking, introducing its main properties and discussing latest results from EC-funded RINA research projects. The Workshop Program and slides are available online.
